(7) Archiving the history of Ralston's Historic Old Granary, one of Omaha's grain-flour mill-bakery & cereal-related sites to our country's grain-to-baking development.
Located in the heart of OMAHA, NEBRASKA
Ralston's Old Granary represents a significant aspect of Nebraska's bread-culture development. It was established in 1900, and gradually became an 87,000 sq. ft. complex of 7 buildings on 7 acres. Today it is privately owned, but still has the ceiling structure where you can see the outlines of the former 18 historical, one-of-a-kind, 2-story, massive wooden-beamed grain bins.
These following photos were taken before the current ownership and restoration work was done around 2020. The top two tower floors still remain as in the days of old, still holding the grain sorting machine below.

Omaha is a vibrant city providing one of thee best "home town American" atmospheres in the country! It's central to many "only here" local & regional treasures of the nation, and MCC's top-rated Culinary Institute.
The city and area has a multitude of "Only in Omaha" events in local-to-national sports, the zoo, theaters & the arts, museums-exhibits-ethnic festivals, trails, and educational-professional-business-religious programs.
When in the future the on-land National Bread Museum (NBM) can open its doors in this area, we can look forward to adding many future baking opportunities at the NBM's Baking Mill. Also, events such as a baking festival, and a regional or nationwide competitive baking or other related event will be opportunities. The possibilities will be endless!
