Welcome to the National Bread Museum
(8) Grandma's Legacy - - - An
Archive of the Women who Built the Foundation of American Bread Culture: Grain-t'-Baking
~ YOUR ANCESTRY ~
Can you trace your family roots back to your first ancestral immigrants? Every person should know of the "ties that bind." The schools no longer teach cursive, nor include a Family Tree in the curriculum, so it's up to us to stay in control of everyone's full knowledge. Another objective of the Tribute & Honor Archive is to identify local cultural imprints throughout our country which left influences on future generations.
The National Bread Museum's Tribute & Honor Archive exists to preserve the American grain-to-baking culture by preserving:
1st & foremost, your mother's & grandmothers' names, locations they lived in the U.S., & eras in which they lived & would have baked;
2nd, your grain-to-baking heritage connections via your ancestry so you know your nationality; and
3rd, the legacy (cultural connections) for you to learn of your family's past lives who've contributed to building this nation on the foundation of grain-to-baking. What were their occupations? Begin to write your story.
Our culture is changing so fast that we're quickly losing the shared values that once tied us together with our family as neighbors & nation. Let's learn to use family baking to instill the ties of family history to our younger relatives, or friends or neighbors, and eat more fresh & from scratch foods for our health.
Give thanks 🙏with a grateful heart ❣
An important segment of the National Bread Museum is the Tribute & Honor (T&H) Archive. This is an opportunity for the people of this country to join together to document and pay Tribute & Honor to their ancestral grandmothers. Everyone can help by documenting these women who contributed to the foundation of building this land - - - where people settled and grew their local towns and communities - - - behind them were the dads/grandpas who grew the grain, and (usually) the men who milled.
At some point in time we'd like to be able to have you help create a baking recipe archive?/book? of manuscript recipes if possible (that means in a person's handwriting) with period photos, and/or memory notes.
The T&H Archive idea began with wanting to honor our moms & grandmothers who had lifetime careers in their homes, and who raised their families on home baking skills, among priceless other character-building influences. Yet today, especially the young oftentimes, can't trace back or give the names of their first "great," let alone beyond that! Therefore, we're encouraging the development of this family history :).
With your help & outreach to family, friends, &/or community, we'll now have an opportunity with a vision, focus, & purpose for a resurgence of knowing our ancestors, what lands they came from, where they built towns & communities in the United States, and possibly something about their lives. If nothing else, everyone knowing Mom & Grandma should know that they baked & in time could have an old family recipe, or something of a hand-me-down, to submit to the Manuscript Archive.

Many people don't see how giving a "single dollar" can have any effect in a program, but combined with other "single dollars" as a community, our generosity will be overwhelming. Therefore, our endeavor with you is of every gifted $25.00 by an individual, $1.00 will be used to provide a loaf or bag of some locally baked bread to an area food need. Also, $1.00 will be set aside to be used to fund clean drinking water wells . . . first to meet needs in the USA, and then in other lands. (We'd like you to help identify the areas of need in the U.S.) Healthy water is a primary need of life. Grain sustains, & together we'll endeavor to remember so we'll know where we're headin' in the future.
